About me

I'm often asked "why Bass?" My answer, It has always been Bass. If I listen to a track for the first time, my mind automatically comes up with a bass line. The first time I was introduced to the bass, I was 12. My best friend lived next door and word spread that his older brother was selling an electric guitar for £15! I was round there like a shot and brought the lovely red and white "Telecaster" looking guitar and amp. It wasn't until I got back home that it hit me, Why does this guitar only have 4 strings? 25 years later and my guitars still only have 4 (sometimes 5) strings. I had always been into playing music. Trumpet and mainly Baritone where the main instruments of my early teens and my family who were not really musical at all were, and still are, very supportive. My earliest inspiration came from a close friend of the family and music pioneer, the late Daphne Oram. Daphne who? I here you ask. Search the name on youtube or google, trust me you will find her. We have Daphne to thank for the famous sound that was made by Dr Who's Tardis when traveling through time. She worked for the BBC and to cut a long story short, invented the electronic sound. My Bass influences are Mark King (Level 42) The late great John Entwistles (The Who) Flea (R.H.C.P.) etc etc. I was always into the fast pace / slap bass style but am quite happy playing anything. I met Woody in 2009 and was give a disc with his acoustic ideas including 'Hey Buzz' and 'There is a Star' I was blown away by the potential of these tracks and couldn't wait to play the bass lines that had entered my mind within 30 seconds of listening to them.
